Rides
Where do I start?
We pride ourselves on offering a comprehensive Riding Calendar that is designed for progression.
So whether you're a new cyclist to the road or you've been cycling for a while and want to push it further, we have Open and Club ride options for you.
To develop your group riding skills, we recommend joining a Rapha 101 session.
Otherwise, we recommend choosing a ride that is marked as Beginner or Social depending on your experience.
Can I join any ride?
All our rides are available to RCC members via the RCC app.
For some rides, we have a limited number of 'Open' spots that you can book.
We ask that you take responsibility of your own fitness capabilities and determine which route and pace are suitable for you before you join a ride.
How do I register for rides?
You can register via Easol for Open Rides, while Club Rides are available to RCC members via the RCC app. By joining any of our rides and events, you agree that you have read, understood, and signed our Open Ride Waiver and you have expressly agreed to the terms and conditions.
If you've joined us for more than three Open Rides, we ask that you consider joining the Club in an official capacity.
What are the rules?
If you've never ridden in a bunch before, or you are new to Rapha, be sure to check out our RCCSFC Ride Guidelines here.
What should I bring to a ride?
While our Ride Leaders are here to help you in the event of a mechanical, it is your responsibility to be self-sufficient on the open road as spares and supplies are limited.
Requirements Include:
• A road bike with drop handlebars and gears in good working order. (Flat handlebars, fixed geared and time-trial bikes are a risk in group rides and are not allowed unless otherwise specified.)
• A US DOT or US CPSC approved helmet.
• Charged front and rear lights (set to solid, not flashing).
• Necessary tools to be self-sufficient (e.g inner tube, tire levers, multitool, pump/Co2 canisters).
• Adequate fluid and food.
• ID and emergency contact information.
• Headphones/earpieces are not to be worn as you are required to hear calls and instructions unobstructed.
What pace are the rides?
We have several paces for our Open and Club rides. Please use your discretion and make note of the posted pace when booking rides.
Paces (Average km/h):
• Beginner: 12 mph
• Social: 14 mph
• Intermediate: 16 mph
• Advanced: 17.5 mph
• Advanced Drop: 18.5 mph
Who leads the ride?
Our team of Rapha Ride Leaders will always be on the ride to show you the route and help you have a great experience.
What is the route for the ride?
We always aim to have the route uploaded to the RCC app or Easol prior to the ride. If in doubt, you can message the Ride Leader via the app or the San Francisco team via email to find out more.
What should I do if I'm struggling?
All our official Rapha Rides are staffed by our Ride Leader team.
You'll always have a Ride Leader navigating on/near the front, and a Ride Leader Sweep looking out for you at the back.
Please let a Sweep know immediately if you're struggling so we can keep an eye out for you.
If you're struggling off the back, our Ride Leaders will simply sit on your wheel behind you, protecting you from traffic behind and ensure you are safely staying within your limit. You'll never ride alone on a RCC Ride.
There's no pressure to push yourself beyond what you're capable of at the RCC, especially when our no-drop rides will regroup at the top.
In the event of a mechanical, raise your hand, call "Mechanical" and if possible stop in a safe place away from traffic. A Ride Leader will ensure the group is in a safe spot off the road before assisting you with any issue you may have.
Do I have to wear Rapha kit?
Absolutely not! Come dressed in whatever makes you feel good. If you are unsure of what to wear, stop by the Clubhouse for our team's recommendations.
Events
Can I attend any event?
Our RCC members always have priority when booking a place at events. While it varies from event to event, we recommend reading the information for each event to find out the exact details. Places are limited.
How much do events cost?
We never charge for our events unless stated in the event description, so please make sure you read the event details to be sure.
