Overview

Prepare to test your limits in the scenic tranquility of Baipenzhu County in Guangdong, China - the stunning setting for our upcoming RCC FAR02 ride. Nestled along the Tropic of Cancer, Baipengzhu is a true green oasis known for its tranquil natural hot springs and the emerald waters of Baipen Lake, Guangdong’s fourth-largest reservoir. Behind this serene backdrop lies a rolling landscape of challenging roads and climbs that will put every rider’s legs and lungs to the test. Beyond the rewarding miles on the bike, the resort where we're staying features 21 natural hot springs to help us recover after a long day in the saddle. FAR02 Baipenzhu Reservoir will be the last FAR event of the year and our final edition in mainland China for a while before we move our FAR series to Hong Kong next year. Don’t miss your chance to join FAR02 and tackle these roads with us!

FAQ

Please make sure that you have the necessary travel documentation to cross the border between Hong Kong and Shen Zhen.

If you've never ridden in mainland China before, you will need to set up your Alipay or Wechat with a HK/foreign credit card. Digital payment is prefered. You might want to bring some cash in case of emergency.

The easiest way is to book a van to Heung Yuen Wai Control Point here. If you're driving, parking is available nearby. Another option is to take the East Rail Line to Sheung Shui Station, you can ride from here or book a van to the port. Route is here.

There are multiple high-speed train stations you can use in Huizhou, located 65 km (Huiyang Station), 85 km (Huizhou South Station), and 102 km (Huizhou North Station) away. You can transfer at Shenzhen North Station to return to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station.

While taking bikes on high-speed trains is possible, regulations vary and some stations in China do not permit bikes onboard. Please assess the risks and check local station policies before choosing this transit method.

The routes are designed for road cycling. The optimal choice for this journey is a road bike. The ride features hilly terrains with over 2,000m elevation gain and a robust physical condition is essential for participation in either.

Please ensure your current fitness aligns with at least the short course route. While we aim to keep the group together at an intermediate-to-advanced pace, our broom wagon will be on hand to support anyone who falls behind so we can keep the event on schedule for everyone. Thanks for helping us keep the ride smooth and enjoyable for the whole group.

FAR fees are non-refundable as we need to make arrangements, including local support and bus transfers. However, we will assist with ticket swaps on a case-by-case basis.

FARs are an RCC Event exclusive to members only. Find out more about RCC Membership here.

We suggest travelling with us to stay on schedule. If you have other preferences, please arrange your own transportation and inform your Community Lead (june.huang@rapha.cc).

There are 2 different route options for the FAR but both demand a moderate level of cycling fitness. Participants MUST be experienced cyclists with the road craft of knowing how to ride in a bunch.

We will have mechanics, essential hydration like water and energy drinks, as well as bananas and snacks at the checkpoints.

Booking information will be shared with successful applicants via email.
