Overview

Start your weekend with great coffee, good company, and a relaxed group ride. Social Saturday rotates between three different routes each week, Bonds Rd, Beach Rd and Westside, offering a welcoming environment to build confidence, meet other riders, and enjoy Melbourne's best cycling roads, with the all important pastry stop. Social Saturday is designed for riders who are new to group riding or looking for a more relaxed bunch ride. Every ride begins with an extended pre-ride briefing covering the basics of bunch riding, communication, and safety before rolling out together. These are no-drop rides, with a focus on riding as one group, regrouping where needed, and creating a supportive, inclusive atmosphere for everyone. We rotate through three different routes so there's a bit of variety in the routes and pastry stops. Bonds Rd Meeting: 7:45am Location: Front of Advanced Vetcare Kew (Chandler Highway & Yarra Boulevard intersection, Kew) Roll out: 8:00am Average speed: Around 25 km/h Return: Approximately 10:15am to 10:30am Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/51017060 Beach Rd Meeting: 7:45am. Coffee from 7:30am. Location: Halcyon Days, 381 Montague St, Albert Park Roll out: 8:00am Average speed: Around 28 km/h Return: Approximately 10:15am to 10:30am Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/51017176 Westside Meeting: 7:45am. Coffee from 7:30am. Location: Halcyon Days, 381 Montague St, Albert Park Roll out: 8:00am Average speed: Around 25 km/h Return: Approximately 10:45am to 11:00am Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/55531170 We generally have a female and male ride leader with the group, making this an especially welcoming ride for anyone new to bunch riding. We particularly encourage women who have been thinking about joining their first group ride. Don't forget a musette or packable bag if you're planning to bring pastries home. Please bring a roadworthy bike, helmet, spare tube and basic repair kit, water, and snacks. Clip in pedals and a road or gravel bike are a must for this ride. Cancellations and ride updates will be posted via the Rapha Melbourne Instagram page, the RCC app as well as the RCCMEL WhatsApp group. We look forward to riding with you. See you there!
