Overview

The eight days between the 24th and 31st of December are sacred. Time for family, time to down tools, time to refocus on what’s most important in life and balance everything you hold dear. It’s for this reason that riding the Festive is so special - this challenge demands dedication and commands commitment. Rapha London is putting on rides throughout the period to help you reach 500km in good company. We'll start with a London tradition: Christmas Eve morning laps with various groups rolling throughout the morning, double coffees, and the chance to bank crucial early kilometres. Laps are the surest way to build your tally. Over the weekend, two 100km routes will keep you on the straight and narrow, the numbers climbing steadily. Then on New Year's Eve morning, Richmond and Regents laps to carry you over the finish line before heading to Rapha London for celebratory coffees and brevet card stamping. Saturday – Festive 500 Weekend KM's

With Christmas behind us and the challenge well underway, we're heading out into the rolling hills of Kent to bank some proper kilometres. This is 100km of classic winter riding – quiet lanes, testing climbs, and the kind of scenery that makes the effort worthwhile.

Meet: Rapha Clubhouse, Brewer Street

Date: Saturday 27th December

Time: 7.30am

Distance: 100km

The route takes us south and east into Kent's trademark undulating terrain. Expect a day of sustained climbing on lanes that roll and pitch, with enough elevation to feel satisfyingly earned by the time we're back in town. This is a ride for getting the work done while the roads are quiet and the year winds down.

What to know:

Come prepared for winter conditions and self-sufficient for mechanicals. The pace will be social but steady – we're here to cover ground together.

Ride courteously, look out for your club mates, and if someone needs help, we stop.

Festive 500 kilometres don't earn themselves. See you Saturday morning.

Sunday – Festive 500 Weekend KM's

The third ride in our Festive 500 series takes us north and east into Essex, trading Kent's hills for the open lanes and big skies that make this corner of the world feel unexpectedly remote. A proper clubride to Mayfield Bakery – 100km of steady kilometres with good company and cake waiting at the turnaround.

Meet: BOBO & WILD, Wanstead

Time: 8.30am

Date: Sunday 28th December

Distance: 100km

The route rolls out through Epping Forest before opening up into the quieter reaches of Essex. Flatter than Saturday, but no less rewarding – this is territory for finding rhythm, settling into conversation, and watching the Festive 500 tally climb. Mayfield Bakery provides the midpoint respite, because no winter ride is complete without proper fuel.

New Years Eve Laps

The final push. With hours left on the clock and the finish line in sight, we're gathering for one last effort – laps in the park to close out the challenge before the calendar turns. Whether you're chasing down those last stubborn kilometres or putting a proper exclamation point on 500km well earned, this is how we cross the line together.

Meet: Jubilee Gates, Inner Circle, Regent's Park

Date: Tuesday 31st December

Time: 8am

Rolling laps from first light, with the option to dip in and out as your tally demands. We'll finish at the Brewer Street clubhouse for celebratory coffees and the quiet satisfaction of a challenge completed. The year ends how it should – on the bike, with your club.

What to know:

The park will be busy with its usual hazards – potholes, dog walkers, traffic, other cyclists. Ride courteously, stay legal, be self-sufficient with repairs. If a club mate needs help, we stop and sort it.

500km doesn't finish itself. Let's bring it home properly.
