daaaanjj X Rapha Manchester: Intermediate Brickworks Loop
Shake off those winter blues on this ride with daaaanjj to Brickworks and back.
SOLD OUTOverview
With the darker and colder days upon us, no doubt you'll be thinking about how you can get back active and generate some early season motivation. These months are always the hardest to ride through, with the poor weather and perhaps even poorer form making for hard days out in the saddle, it our eyes, riding with a group makes this challenge feel a little bit more accomplishable. For us, there's no better way to do so than throwing your leg over your bike and heading out on a spin with some pals. For that reason, we've teamed up with our mate Dan Jones to get together and head out on one of his favourite loops into the Peak District and up the Brickworks climb — not forgetting a stop at Kickback Coffee along the way. We've graded this one as an intermediate ride as although it'll be socially paced, riders will need to have some experience of riding longer and hillier distances in a group setting due, to the nature of the route. We also ask that you come prepared with enough food and water to keep yourself and your bike moving, plus an extra layer in your back pocket, because lets face it, the weather could turn foul. Full length mudguards will be necessary if it's going to be wet. Meet at the Rapha Manchester Clubhouse at 09.15, for a 09.30 roll out.
FAQ
How far is the ride?
The route will be approximately 80km in length, with 600m of climbing.
How fast will this ride be?
We understand that one persons social pace may be different to another's, so signing up without knowing how fast you will be riding may feel quite daunting.
This is an intermediate ride so we will be averaging approximately 25 k/ph for the duration of the ride. There will be some faster parts of the ride, and equally there will be slower parts as we tackle some of the climbs.
Although this is a no-drop ride and we will re group if things split up, we do ask that riders signing up should have some experience of riding longer and hillier distances in a group setting, to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
What bike should I bring?
Riders should come on a drop bar bike with clip-in pedals. We'd recommend a road bike but a gravel bike will be fine too. You may want to think about putting on some faster rolling tyres to help you go the distance.
We also ask that you come prepared with enough food and water to keep yourself and your bike moving, plus an extra layer in your back pocket, because lets face, the weather could turn foul. Full length mudguards — NOT ASS SAVERS — will be necessary if the roads are wet.
When will the route be sent out?
The route will be sent out a week before the event.
